William A. Abernethy

Shareholder

Bill Abernethy is a named shareholder in the Corpus Christi office of Donnell, Abernethy & Kieschnick. He is a trial lawyer whose practice includes medical malpractice defense, products liability, business, commercial and insurance defense.

Bill is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates (President of Corpus Christi Chapter 2005). Bill is a Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation and member of the Corpus Christi Bar Association, Texas Association of Defense Counsel, Defense Research Institute, and a member of the Bar Association of the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Bill received his Bachelor of Arts from Texas Tech University in 1969. He earned his Juris Doctor from South Texas College of Law in 1974 with honors. While in law school, Bill was a member of the Law Review, Comments Editor. After law school, Bill received an appointment as briefing attorney for the 13th Court of Appeals working with the Honorable Paul W. Nye. He is Martindale-Hubbell AV rated. Bill is admitted to practice as a member of the Texas State Bar, U.S. District Court for the Southern, Northern and Eastern Districts of Texas, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court.
